Inbetween blogs

So, the plan was to write a blog about how we use non invasive methods to cure infections in our chickens feet. Aka bumble foot- the bane of my chicken keeping life.

I got most of the way done, and it crashed. Wah wah wah.

So I got most of it rewritten, and boom, Lucy, one of our red stars was attacked by a raccoon. It’s still up in the air if she’s going to pull thru or not.

I’m writing a blog about her now as well, to deal with the experience of major trauma care. Holy goodness was it major. We’ve had one raccoon attack in the past and it left us one chicken down (RIP Blanca) so we were thankful to have gotten to Lucy before it was to late.

On top of it, we’ve been busy amassing lots of berry bushes, fruit trees and other such awesomeness because we are working on our homestead for the next few weeks.

At this point, life is such that I barely have time to live it, let alone blog it.

So, here I am, blogging about how I don’t have much time to blog. Yea for life!

I will get those chicken blogs up….sometime. Soonish.

Until that time, have a wicked good day.

This is the official website for Gillis Gardens, LLC. Gillis Gardens is a farm, run by myself and my wonderful husband. We believe in biodiversity, organic growing methods and doing things ourselves. I knit, crochet, make jewelry and sew. MrGillis builds, doing everything from our plumbing to our mechanical to our renovations. We are both active members of our little community. We both take care of the plants and animals. He weeds, I harvest. He spreads manure, I plant. We raise multiple breeds of chickens for eggs and meat. We have a herd of Alpacas that we shear every year for their beautiful fiber, which we then have milled into ultra luxurious yarn. We make our own maple syrup, preserves and pickles. We raise bees for honey and herbs for medicine. We also raise pigs for meat and fun. We are the parents of two young children, and consider that our most important job. Follow our adventures here and also on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter.
