(This post has been edited as of 10/13/2017 to reflect the changes in the contest)
For Halloween this year, a few of us citizens and the town manager have gotten together to organize some community fun.
One group of ladies started a trunk or treat, which I had mentioned earlier in a Selectman’s Meeting Blog. As I learn more about that, I’ll update this blog and repost it.
After a little bit of brainstorming on our town manager’s side, we’ve decided to also do a Door Decoration contest to run from Oct. 13 to Halloween Eve.
ETA: this contest signup deadline has been extended to the 28th! Also, decorate any part of your property, lets just get this town festive looking!
Gillis Fuel will be sponsoring the event – and that means we (MrGillis, Myself and TheOriginal MrsGillis aka the The OMG) also get to judge!
So here’s the juicy bits of the competition-
Anyone, business or residence gets to sign up. But they will be in two separate categories. There will be 3 top prize winners for both – Residences can get either $20, $15 or $10 and the businesses will be competing for 1st, 2nd or 3rd place ribbons.
You can sign up either at the Gillis Fuel Office at 448-2218 or the Danforth Town Office. Official deadline for Signing up and Decorating your Door ANYTHING is OCTOBER 13th , 28th, 4 pm.
THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE! All we need is your name and address so we can come see your door. Contest is open only to Danforth Town Residents and Businesses only(sorry!).
Also, there is no theme. Just have fun and use your imagination!
Lastly, keep in mind that while you can decorate however you want, where ever you want, we will only be judging the door. Let’s get town looking festive for this coming holiday season!
Until next time, have a wicked good day!
Do you live in Danforth, Maine? I’m from Calais!!

Too funny. What a small world! I know a lady whose from Danforth. She is a paramedic. Her name is Sue. And for the life of me I can’t remember her last name. I used to work with her at the Fire Station in Calais. She was always so nice.
