Open Farm Day – July 28th 2018

The last weekend of July, we’d like to invite you all to come visit our farm!

On Saturday, July 28th from 8am to 6pm, come on down to Gillis Gardens off of Maple St in Danforth. This is the same weekend as the Annual Summerfest, so there is going to be a whole lot going on in town. It’s a perfect opportunity to spend some time exploring what Danforth has to offer.

We have done this before, and we really enjoyed having everyone come by to meet our animals and see what we do. We’ve expanded a whole bunch since last fall, with the new alpacas, George the Rooster, the pigs and the meat chickens. Also, we actually have a garden now instead of the post harvest mess that we had last fall.

We’ll have lots for sale, including, but not limited, to Maple Syrup, Pickled Eggs, Jams, Fudges, Yarn from our very own herd of Alpacas and MORE! Come on by, learn a little bit about our animals, take a short tour of our operation, and support a local farm all at the same time. We can’t wait to see you.

This event is weather permitting, as everything is located outside. Lets hope for a beautiful day! If we have to cancel for any reason, we will post it here and our Facebook, so be sure that you are following us on there.

Also, keep up with our daily adventures and follow us on Instagram if you aren’t already.

Until next time, have a wicked good day!

This is the official website for Gillis Gardens, LLC. Gillis Gardens is a farm, run by myself and my wonderful husband. We believe in biodiversity, organic growing methods and doing things ourselves. I knit, crochet, make jewelry and sew. MrGillis builds, doing everything from our plumbing to our mechanical to our renovations. We are both active members of our little community. We both take care of the plants and animals. He weeds, I harvest. He spreads manure, I plant. We raise multiple breeds of chickens for eggs and meat. We have a herd of Alpacas that we shear every year for their beautiful fiber, which we then have milled into ultra luxurious yarn. We make our own maple syrup, preserves and pickles. We raise bees for honey and herbs for medicine. We also raise pigs for meat and fun. We are the parents of two young children, and consider that our most important job. Follow our adventures here and also on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter.
